readySC™ is a new CATT
By David M. White
On July 30th they flip the switch and the Center for Accelerated Technology Training (CATT)
officially becomes readySC™.
The change in marketing approach was announced at SCEDA’s annual meeting last May.
CATT was established in the early 60’s and is generally recognized as one of the nation’s most effective workforce training programs, working with all 16 of South Carolina’s technical schools to specifically train employees to perform the specific needs of business and industry.
“The transition started with a new CATT logo,” said Kelly Steinhilper, CATT’s business developer director. “We already have everything tagged with the readySC [brand] and decided to [announce the] roll out of the strategy with SCEDA because local developers are our largest stakeholders.”
“readySC says it all,” said Dr. Barry Russell, President of the SC Technical College System. “The system’s goal is to make and keep South Carolina ready for business and industry, ensuring they have the workforce, and educational and training resources they need to succeed. This new logo and the readySC tagline are great visual reminders of the importance of this role in developing our state’s economic future.”
The name change is based on research and feedback, according to Steinhilper.
“One of the things we did was research among the stakeholders. The response was that the name ‘Center for Accelerated Technology Training’ was too hard to remember, a mouthful and confusing."
“Also we had requests to be more proactive in our marketing effort. We took that [feedback] and did some research among other states. readySC sums up what we want to let prospects know that we’re ready to help to them get their projects up and running successfully.”
“Our new tagline captures the essence of our organization – our flexibility, our responsiveness, our quality,” says Russ Darnall, executive director of readySC.
According to readySC literature, they have helped more than “100 organizations each year successfully start up a greenfield operation or expand an existing facility in South Carolina [by providing] employees that have the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities to get [an] operation up and running …”
On July 30th CATT becomes old school and readySC is rarin’ to go.
