1. What is the Continental application process?

1. Candidate must meet the minimum requirements:

  Willing to travel to Portugal, France, Germany, Mexico, other international locations or  Mt. Vernon, Illinois for up to 12 weeks of initial on the job training. (Willingness to travel is required for this position. Refusal will lead to disqualification.)
  Associates Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance; or an HSD/GED with Completion of Craft Apprenticeship or Equivalent Experience.
  At least 4 years of Industrial Maintenance experience with a solid work history and good attendance record.
  Strong PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  Strong commitment to quality, cleanliness and attention to detail.
  Strong troubleshooting skills.
  Ability to perform multiple tasks.
  Ability to correctly follow work instructions, policies and processes.
  Able to occasionally lift 50+ pounds.
  Able to stand for long periods of time.
  Willing to participate in Continental's Soft Skills Team Member Career Battery of Tests (Initiative, Adaptability, Dependability, etc).
  Willing to take a hands-on assessment for mechanical and electrical skills and an on-line multi-craft maintenance test.
  Willing to participate in a drug screen, background check & assessment of basic mobility & strength as generally required in plant.
  Willing to work a rotating shift schedule.

2.    Candidate applies for pre-employment training online at www.readysc.org/conti.

3.    Candidates screened by the SC Department of Employment & Workforce (DEW) for minimum requirements.   

4.    Eligible candidates will be contacted by SCDEW via email and invited to complete testing.

5.    Candidate will participate in DDI (Development Dimensions International) Assessment.

6.    Successful candidates will be invited to interview with Continental.

7.    Following successful completion of the background check and drug screen, a start date will be communicated
       and a welcome packet will be sent to the new employee.

8.    Candidate attends readySC™ post-employment training.

2.    What if I do not meet the minimum experience requirements?

In lieu of minimum experience requirements, education may be substituted. Contact your local OneStop to discuss possible educational opportunities.

4.    How do I apply for training on the sctechjobs.com website?

Go to www.sctechjobs.com. Click on a particular recruitment you wish to apply for. You will see the flyer describing the position requirements. At the bottom of that flyer there is a button to click to apply.

Next, you will see application instructions. Once you click the box that you agree with the terms of use you can create your account by clicking “I am a new user.”

You will then be prompted to enter your personal information to create your account.

5.   How can I check my application status?

Log on to www.sctechjobs.com and click "My Applications" and then the “Retrieve Applications” button. On the next screen you will see the Status/Disposition of your application. Due to the number of applications, the selection process may take up to one year. Thank you for your patience.

8.    How do I create a UserID and Password?

To set up a username and password do the following:

Click on "Application-on-File." This application can be used later for copying to other opportunities.

  1. Choose “Apply Online.”
  2. Read the application terms and click the box if you agree to the terms.
  3. Choose “I am a New User.”
  4. In the next screen you will be able to create your unique userid and password.

Log on to www.sctechjobs.com and click "My Applications" button. From the next screen you will be able to retrieve your username and/or password.

Log on to www.sctechjobs.com and click "Update My Contact Info" button. You will be able to make any necessary changes after entering your username and password.

11. Why is my application being reviewed by the SC Dept of Employment & Workforce and not Continental?

Due to the large number of applications for Continental positions, the SC Department of Employment & Workforce (DEW) is helping to review applications for training. Applications are screened by DEW based on the criteria provided by Continental.

All applications will be reviewed in the order in which they have been received.

Following successful completion of the background check and drug screen, a start date will be communicated and a welcome packet will be sent to the new employee.

13. What does the readySC™ post-employment training entail?

These classes will focus on: Advanced PLC Training, Safety Training, Train the Trainer Course, CPR/First Aid, and Forklift/Scissor Lift Training.
