1. What is the Pre-Hire Training and Review Program application process?

1. Candidate must meet the minimum requirements:

Have at least one (1) year of manufacturing, assembly, auto mechanic or mechanical military experience, or attended a Pre-Employment Manufacturing Training Program or an Aircraft Assembly Technology course offered by Trident Technical College to substitute for systems and structures experience requirements.

Have a verifiable high school education or equivalency.

Participate in a thirty-two (32) hour unpaid mandatory pre-hire training and assessment process on your own time.

Available to work overtime as needed.

Available to work any shift and/or weekends as needed.

Have verifiable work history, pass a criminal background screen, and pass required drug-free workplace and medical screens.

2. Candidate applies for pre-employment training online at www.sctechjobs.com.

3. Candidate application reviewed by the SC Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW).

4. Eligible candidates contacted by SCDEW via email for a follow up interview. The interview will be conducted over the phone.

5. Candidate will receive an email with a link and directions for completing a mandatory online assessment.

6. Candidate referred to take five WorkKeys® tests: Applied Math, Locating Information, Observation, Reading for Information,     and Teamwork. Candidate must score a three (3) or better on Math and a four (4) or better on all other tests.    

7. Candidate must submit their WorkKeys® test scores to SCDEW to continue the application process.    

8. Candidate attends a thirty-two (32) hour readySC™ pre-hire training and review process.

9. Following successful completion of pre-hire training, candidate will participate in a series of contingency screenings.   

10. Following successful completion of the contingency screenings, candidate will be invited to participate in a paid Pre-Hire Training and Review Program for one-hundred-eighty (180) days.

11. Candidates who successfully complete the one-hundred-eighty (180) day Pre-Hire Training and Review Program will be eligible for Boeing Direct Hire.

2.    What if I do not meet the minimum experience requirements?

If the experience requirements are not met, you may attend a Pre-Employment Manufacturing Training Program or an Aircraft Assembly Technology course offered by Trident Technical College to substitute for systems and structures experience requirements.

3.    How do I apply for the Pre-Manufacturing course?

The Trident Workforce Investment Board, through the Trident One Stop Career System sponsors the Pre-Employment Manufacturing Training Program with funds from the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).  Tuition assistance may also be available through the One Stop System for the Aircraft Assembly Technology course. Other local workforce investment boards in South Carolina may also provide financial support for these programs.

5.    How do I apply for training on the sctechjobs.com website?

Go to www.sctechjobs.com. Click on a particular recruitment you wish to apply for.

You will see the flyer describing the position requirements. At the bottom of that flyer there is a button to click to apply.

Next, you will see application instructions. Once you click the box that you agree with the terms of use you can create your account by clicking “I am a new user.” You will then be prompted to enter your personal information to create your account.

6.    How can I check my application status?

9.    How do I create a UserID and Password?

To set up a username and password do the following:

Click on "Application-on-File." This application can be used later for copying to other opportunities.

  1. Choose “Apply Online.”
  2. Read the application terms and click the box if you agree to the terms.
  3. Choose “I am a New User.”
  4. In the next screen you will be able to create your unique userid and password.

12. Why is my application being reviewed by theSC Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW) and not Boeing?

Due to the large number of applications for Team Charleston positions, SCDEW is helping to review applications for training. Applications are screened by SCDEW based on the criteria provided by Boeing.

All applications will be reviewed in the order in which they have been received.

13. How will I know if I need to take the WorkKeys® tests?

 If you qualify to receive a phone interview WorkKeys® will be addressed at that time. You would then receive an email regarding WorkKeys® testing.

15. How do I schedule for WorkKeys® testing?

You may also schedule the required WorkKeys® tests through the Trident One-Stop Career Center located at 1930 Hanahan Rd., Suite 200, North Charleston, SC 29406 or call 1-888-226-1606 Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00pm.

16. What if I do not score high enough on a WorkKeys® test?

If WorkKeys® scores do not meet minimum requirements then the testing facility will direct you to enroll in WorkKeys® Remediation Training. You may then retest at a later date.

To ensure that your application for the Team Charleston training program can be processed, a copy of your WorkKeys® scores (with the ACT letterhead) is required.

18. What does the pre-employment training entail?

Successful candidates will receive six to eight weeks of training from readySC at Trident Technical College’s state of the art 787 Dreamliner Training Facility in North Charleston.

A sample of courses covered include:

­ Teamwork

Training is divided into two Phases:

 

Phase I

Phase I training is a thirty-two (32) hour unpaid pre-hire training and assessment process that is required in order to be considered for an entry-level position with Boeing South Carolina.

Classes are offered on campus at Trident Technical College over two weeks in four hour sessions from 8 AM -12 PM, 1 PM - 5 PM or 6 PM -10 PM.  Week One classes are Monday through Friday. Week Two classes are Tuesday through Thursday.

 

Phase II

Phase II is a ten (10) week paid training and evaluation period that is a combination of classroom lectures and practical hands-on work.

Trainees are tested continuously on both the lecture and practical material. Trainees must strictly adhere to work rules and practices as well as attendance policies throughout Phase I and Phase II training.

Phase II classes are held every weekday on a shift schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and 3:30 PM to 12 AM.
